The Rize Koyan is a breed of livestock guardian dog from Turkey.[1]
The Rize Koyan is named after the town of Rize, the breed is found throughout Rize and Ordu provinces in the north-east Black Sea region of Turkey.[2][3] The breed resembles the Kars dog with solid bodies and strong legs, dogs stand approximately 70 centimetres (28 in) with bitches being 1–2 centimetres (0.39–0.79 in) shorter; their coats can be various colours although grey is most common, bi-coloured examples are known.
